HALLMARKING INFORMATION
If you are selling precious metals within the UK, it’s a legal requirement that you hallmark every item over a certain weight. These requirements are different for each type of precious metal used.

Silver items weighing more than 7.68g
Gold Items weighing more than 1g
Platinum items weighing more than 0.5g
Palladium items weighing more than 1g
A hallmark is a series of stamps that are added to a piece of jewellery by an independent assay office to confirm that the metal used is exactly what the maker claims it to be.
A complete hallmark contains 3 punch marks.

The sponsor's mark
The purity or metal type and fineness mark
And the mark of the Assay Office assessing the work (London, Birmingham, Sheffield or Edinburgh)

Sometimes there are other marks applied, such as the date of hallmarking, but these are not legal requirements.

I am registered with the London Assay Office and my Sponsor's Mark is JVM.

Any jewellery items I sell that require hallmarking will be done so by laser at the London Assay Office and I will include a picture of the mark and a note in the item’s description.
If an item falls below these weights, it won't be hallmarked as standard.
You can, however, request that an underweight item be hallmarked for an additional charge of around £35. Please contact me at rawmooncreations@gmail.com after placing your order to discuss this further and obtain an exact price for this service.
Please do keep in mind that I need to send jewellery on to the London Assay Office for it to be hallmarked, so there could be a wait of several weeks before I am able to send the item on to you.
